Sunset at Mount Buffalo, 2017
Sunset at Mount Buffalo, 2017
My country is on fire. Over 58,000km2 of land has been burned, engulfing entire communities, destroying family homes, and burning our wildlife reserves.
Being overseas right now means that I can’t really do anything physically to help, except for helping to raise awareness and donating money. Many of you who are not Australian have also asked me how you can help, so I have decided to sell a print of my favourite place in Australia: Mount Buffalo.
This is a National Park in Victoria. It is one of the best places in the country to survey the milky way (it’s magical), home to an array of beautiful wildlife (including a wombat who scared the living daylights out of me when it walked underneath my car one night while I was camping alone), amazing hikes, abseiling, canoeing, caving, and this view overlooks the Alpine National Park, a place that is currently being ravaged by bushfire.
Parts of the bush in this area are so thick, the Country Fire Authority (CFA) have described it as indefensible. It is home to many of my friends, family members, and gosh darn it I just have a whole load of beautiful memories from this place.
Each print will run you back $20 Australian Dollars and will be printed on archival quality cotton paper, at a size of 18x13cm. I will be shipping throughout Australia and internationally. If you are overseas an extra fee will be added for shipping.
All of the profits from the sales of this print will be donated equally between the Red Cross, CFA, RFS, Vic Bushfire appeal and Salvos and WIRES. I have chosen to do this because all of these organisations support different aspects of bushfire relief, from animal welfare and emergency assistance to meals for first-line responders. If you have a preference for your donation, please be sure to let me know during the check out process.
I would greatly appreciate you sharing this with your own community. We all have the power to make a difference, no matter where we are in the world.
